Our Mission
The mission of the Oklahoma Catholic Women's Conference will be to provide an annual conference, with both nationally and locally known speakers who are loyal to the teachings of the Catholic Church, to the women of Oklahoma and surrounding states. It is our hope that these conferences will give the women of Oklahoma a more extensive knowledge of their Catholic faith as well as encourage them to receive the many graces available through frequent reception of the Sacraments and the study of Sacred Scripture in conjunction with the Cathchism of the Catholic Church. We recognize the Blessed Mother as the model for living a faithful, Christ-centered life as a woman, wife and/or mother and encourage devotion to her in our journey as women in the Church
The Theme
The theme, "Clothed with Strength and Dignity: Becoming a Worthy Woman of God," comes from Proverbs 31:10-31. This passage, entitled "The Worthy Woman," describes a wife that has a heart for God, a desire to be a complete wife and mother, with a tremendous work ethic and incredible resourcefulness. All these characteristics are things we can aspire to be, whether single or married, young or old, with or without children. Verse 25 specifically mentions that she is "clothed with strength and dignity." These attributes are especially important in today's culture, where temptations boldly proclaim their existence on every corner. Today, more than ever, it is important to be strong and dignified in our relationship with God. When we envision our Blessed Mother, she encompasses this image--clothed with strength and dignity, and most importantly, a worthy woman of God.
The Logo
The logo encapsulates the conference mission in a picture. The cross, with the Eucharist at the center, is the main focus of the logo, just as Christ is the center of our faith. The woman looks at the cross, face uplifted, hands clasped in prayer. She could be Mary, she could be us. Just like the woman in the logo, our sights need to be set on Christ. In the background is the state of Oklahoma, the site of the conference. It is a place where the harvest is plentiful. Matthew 9:37 tells us "The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few." Please help with the harvest: perhaps you could invite someone who is close to making a decision to follow Christ or perhaps you could invite someone who needs the seed of faith to be planted in her life.
